Biography

Laura Kate Moisey-Gray

Laura is a classically trained violist and singer studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.

Laura is currently in her 4th year studying for her BMus at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich, London. She studies with Rivka Golani, and holds a Trinity College London Scholarship. Laura has had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with Sascha Bota, Stephen Upshaw and Malcolm Johnston. She is the violist for the Creekside String Quartet and Rosewood Trio, as well as enjoying playing in other chamber groups for concerts outside of Trinity. During her four years of studying, she has been part of many college projects, including Side-By-Side orchestras with the Philharmonia and TL professors, Symphony orchestra and Shapeshifter orchestra, leading the viola section in projects Oct.2022 and March 2023. She was also the violist in the pit band for Trinity’s production of Big Fish in 2022, which very much aligned with her love for musical theatre. She is also a scholar at the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir, under the direction of Ralph Allwood MBE. She has sung in multiple evensong services aired on BBC radio, Songs of Praise for the Platinum Jubilee, and many Chapel Choir concerts including performances of Handel’s Messiah and Brahms Requiem.

Laura also enjoys arranging, and has experience arranging for groups of all sizes, but primarily arranges for smaller chamber music groups. Some arrangements have previously been used for Trinity Laban ‘CoLab’ projects, where they have been recorded in the Old Royal Naval College Chapel.

Outside of Trinity, Laura participates in the London Musical Theatre Orchestra Sitz’s and she is a member of the University of London Symphony Orchestra. Laura has also recently played with Dorking Philharmonic, Haslemere Musical Society Orchestra, Enfield Chamber Orchestra, North London Sinfonia and more. She performed Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with the Marlow Orchestra in April 2022, as her solo debut with orchestra. She also plays with The 286, a band from SE London, playing original songs and pop/classical crossovers. She has recorded with the 286 among many recording sessions, as well as being involved in her mum, Avelia Moisey’s songs!

Laura has played and sung at venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s Cathedral. At the age of 13, Laura played in the NCO Under 13’s Orchestra, and went on to play in the Buckinghamshire County Youth Orchestra, touring to Budapest, Reykjavik and Prague. In school she participated in all the ensembles she could, including, chamber choir, gospel choir, orchestra, string quartet and concert band. She also was involved in the school musicals, both playing and performing – Wizard of Oz, Oliver!, and Phantom of the Opera.
